Inspired by Disney

Some of my most recent projects have been inspired( copied? ) by a couple of Disney girls...
Now.. I'm not really a fan of Selena Gomez, but I instantly fell in love with this dress of hers.

Since it also was similar to the first dress I ever made, I had a go at it, and was quite happy with the result.

Making the collar was quite a bit of work. And I had mainly gold thread and a couple of gold sequins to put it together.

While working on Selenas dress I came across this cute blue dress that Demi Lovato wears. (And honestly I am a bit of a fan of Demi!)

The finished dress! I think I might add some more to the underskirt to get a fuller form.

Anyway. These dresses are as old news now. My current project I think is taking things a step further. I am again inspired by disney, but in a more traditional sense! I have some seams, hemming and zipperwork to do. EXITED! :) I have been dreaming about this dress for many years. I won't say which one it is, but here's a hint......

Sorting some things out

I've decided not to limit this blog to simply one of my interests. So anyhting can now crop up really, but most likely, yes, sewing, fashion etc, but also food, films, music and more. This way I will also be able to post more frequently!

And I'll start right now.

It is now three days since the premiere of the final Harry Potter movie. Safe to say I was immensely exited to see it, but also nervous for the films to come to an end. Since it was the end, I decided I had to do something to honour Harry and the looong journey so many have been a a part of. I thought about dressing up (reuse my Luna Lovegood inspired costume perhaps), but that's not the most original idea. Since I love to bake, I got the idea to make cakes for everyone who was going to see the movie! At first i thought it was crazy, but I sort of had to do it after that...

The result was these "Griffindorcakes"Since I needed so many it had to be simply done, so I made many batches of muffinbatter, and made large cakes of it. I used different food colouring, blended them together two-and-two, to make swirly patterned cakes using the Gryffindor house colors as inspiration

powdered sugarfrosting, cut up into nice little piieces, and then..

I cut out two Harry Potter stencils ( i.e. my brother cut them out. But I could totally have done it!) and sprinkled some cocoapowder on top!

Not bad ey?

The plan was to make 5-700... One for each. But since I started the night before the movie, I ended up with 300. (And a lot of left over batter!) Worked out tho, those who wanted some, got some. And there were a tray left over.

I was nervous preparing to hand them out, but I'm so glad I did it!
(My family deserves a big thanks as well, they helped me with every part of this project!)

The movie was of course, as Ron Weasley would put it, "Brilliant!"
